Work in progress

These ten by ten centimeter squares are cut from one of the paintings I brought to AIB for the first residency. My mentor Heather and I discussed the fact that what interests me most is texture.

By looking closely at the marks I am making new discoveries as to what can be done with brushes, instead of relying on my old stand by, the knife.

These small ten by ten centimeter squares are points of departure for larger work.

each cut piece 10x10cm

20x30cm

I got a free sample of paper that can be painted directly with oils, without gesso. I think the brand is called Fuentis, but I'll have to double check. It is fantastic.
